I did not answer.  Caller left voice mail claiming to be from FedEx and telling me to contact the claims department at 202-241-5817 so they could get me my package.  I barely understood him as his English was quite poorly pronounced.  Besides his diction, his manner and demeanor were no where the level of professionalism one expects from a major national company, particularly FedEx.  I believe this is a scam and will not be calling.

Good call James, this is a big time scam.  I wasted a lot of time messing around with and wasting his day to scam others.  I reported this directly to UPS today on the phone, and emailed there fraud department about it.

To whom this may concern,

I was contacted today by a number (1-202-241-5817), which was used in a attempt to get money using a false Sweepstakes as the ruse.  The most likely Indian man speaks highly accented english and is very persistent.  I spoke with him directly about 10 times today, and was positive that he was involved in this scam after I contacted the real UPS.  He was trying to get me to go and buy a Green Dot reload-able card, the card information was “required” to provide Bank of America to make a transfer for get this… 20.5 Million dollars as I am the 1st place winner of the sweepstakes.  The man said the card needed to have $350 dollars on it for some obscured reason.  The man said he couldn’t get in touch with my agent, who had my account information, so he didn’t even know my name of address.  Nor did I ever provide it to him.  When I called the number back it would go directly to his desk, it did sound like a call center with the chatter in the back ground.  The prize was to be delivered to my front door with my package that they are holding for security purposes, and will be delivered with a US Marshal as an escort, because 'lots of people are trying to intercept it and lots of people are trying to scam me’.  The guy was not very convincing and his number was associated with another fraud attempt I discovered on the internet.

I called back again after hours and got a clearly phony answering machine which identifies himself as the CEO of FEDEX shipping department, and all the representatives are busy with other callers, ect.. leave your contact information and have a blessed day.  They are supposed to recontact me tomorrow with my name and address to confirm that it is me.  I gave him a really hard time but he was persistent and sticks to his guns, except he was caught flip flopping between UPS and FEDEX, I used FEDEX to slip him up because I had seen the other attempt online.  He bit on that but then back tracked. The answering machine spoke a different story.  They are trying to get preloaded Green Dot cards, or secondly bank account information, they are very insistent on the Green Dot though.  I told them a fake Green Dot number to push the pace and it worked, he then said there must have been a problem with the number that I gave him.  I told him I wouldn’t be giving him the real number unless he could provide me with some basic information. MY ADDRESS, and MY NAME.  He could not.
