I got call from this number 1-202-241-6119 claiming that they were calling from IRS investigation office and I have unpaid tax due. They told me either I need to pay the amount while they are on the phone with me or within 30 mins police will come and arrest me.
They asked me to go CVS or RiteAid to get green.moneypack voucher and provide them the serial number. They also told me not to discuss it with anyone. Initialy I did google search. Thanks for the previous posting.
Then called local police station and they confirmed it is scam call. But these guys were calling me repeatedly every one or two minutes. So I unpluged my phone for 15 mins, interestingly that was recommended by local police station.
Report the Calls to the real IRS here:
•report the incident to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at 800-366-4484.
•You can also file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at FTC.gov. Add "IRS Telephone Scam" to the comments in your complaint.
Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $60.00 or so.
My wife keep getting calls over 20 times when she was working!!!!!!They are saying that calling from IRS, and asking to pay the dept back in 2010-11. Heavy accents but the name they gave me was very white names. SCAM.
