Got a call this morning from someone asking for my husband, when I told him he was not available he got very mad and said that he wants to talk to him as he is in a lot of trouble from IRS and he was calling from the IRS Criminal Investigations.
Upon investigating the phone number I was called from (Dist of Columbia 202 241 6835) I found it it was a scam, so I then
decided to call the number back and using *68 to find out that the person who picked up said that this is the IRS Criminal Investigation...Please do not get panicked when you get a call like this just simply hang up.....it is indeed FRAUD...
Got a scam call from "Kevin Harris" calling from Federal Tax Investigation Department to make me aware of a "legal affidavit" and complaint from the State of Georgia at 202 241 6835. First of all no department exists. Secondly, the Feds would not be investigating a state matter. Called back and told them I would be calling the IRS. Called back again and get a, "This Magic Jack subscriber is not available". SCAM do not talk to this person over the phone and report immediately to the proper authorities. As you all should know, do not give any personal information out over the phone.
Exact same message was left for me a couple of days ago from 202-241-6835 by a man with a very heavy Indian accent calling himself "Kevin Harris" saying that there is a legal action being taken against me and to call him back, then he wished me a "blessed day"!!!
Similar message was left on my answering machine today from 202-506-9767, man with a very heavy accent calling himself "Agent Leo King" from "National Fraud Prevention Service" saying to call him back or they would take legal action against me, and then he wished me "good luck"????
I'm reporting these SCAM attempts to the authorities.
thanks to the comment above, i was able survive this SCAM. Kevin Harris called by 202-241-6835 and said that he is from the Federal Tax Investigation Department because we have a criminal case. my sister felt very very scared as she answered the phone and told us that we have to pay $2,900.00 -.-
if you ever receive this call just hang out and report it to the police for them to investigate and do not release any personal information.
