I recieved two calls in 1 day from this number. I did not answer either, the first left no message the second recorded a voicemail. The reording started in the middle of the message saying it was the IRS and I needed to call back to avoid legal action. Looked on the IRS website they say they will always send notification via mail. This sounds the same as a scam listed on this website but with 1 digit in the phone number chnaged.
I had a call from this same number, and just as one of the posters said, there was a voice mail message which began in the middle of the message- I think by DESIGN, and then ending with the phone number to call to avoid 'action against me being taken'. This is yet another scam caller who is hoping to catch some poor person who DOES owe something and then coercing them into sending in 'payments'! BEWARE!!!!!!!
I received at least 2 calls from this number today. Last week the message came from a number in California (415-506-2384 - 4 messages in one day). In all cases they leave a message indicating that you must return call of Julie Smith IRS Agent. Call back to avoid legal action. Every time I call the number back I get a foreign male individual - I ask for Julie Smith - they do not allow me to speak with her. I indicate to them I am providing their information to the local police and they hang up. Today when I called back the 'dude' as will call him says "Look sweetheart do you know who I am - I am with the IRS"...first of all - no IRS agent I have ever spoken with has called me sweetheart. Total SCAM! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not give any personal information to anyone calling you over the phone. As Alison states above if there is a legal IRS matter you will be contacted via mail - not over the phone by someone calling you sweetheart.
