Caller identified himself as a Eric Mathews, and said he works for the state investigation department. Mentioned there was a complaint, but never gives a name against whom, which was suspicious. Made some that's about an order of arrest if a call was not returned. Did some research, this guy is a fraud. This guy works for a collection agency.

Since this individual is impersonating the IRS you should also report it to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA). You can send an email to [email protected] or file an online complaint by completing their "Online Form" located on their website, http://www.treasury.gov/tigta/contact_report_scam.shtml

Please visit our "Report Phishing" website (http://www.irs.gov/uac/Report-Phishing) and click on "Complaint Assistant". This will allow you to file a complaint with the FTC and identify the complaint as an IRS complaint.

Alternatively you can file a complaint directly with the FTC by visiting http://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov.

Whether you use the IRS link or file the complaint directly with the FTC, add "IRS Hostile Call" in the Comments section of the complaint.

Individuals who have been victimized by this scam and have provided one or more Green Dot MoneyPak numbers to the scammer should also notify Green Dot directly at 800-473-3636 to report the scam and open an investigation.

Got the same call. Eric Matthews who said he was from State Investigation Dept HeadQuarter. Eric said that they have received a lawsuit complaint against my name and my identity which that could result into an arrest. IF i don't return call then I'm responsible for inconvenience causes to me. The message sounded like a "robot" recording which sounds like a complete scam.

The same thing happen to us today 9/15/2014, same guy with robotic recording, left message on our phone to called back, beware a total fraud.

The same message as above from a male caller; I did not give him a chance to say much, just told him that he was just a scam and that I would report him to the Sheriff's Department. He had a nerve to call back after the initial call!
