Report the Calls to the real IRS here:
•report the incident to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at 800-366-4484.
•You can also file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at FTC.gov. Add "IRS Telephone Scam" to the comments in your complaint.
Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $60.00 or so.
I've been away for home for a week, called home to retrieve my messages (3 of them all exactly the same recording). Who would actually fall for a dumb scam like this? When I return home I'll be contacting our local police dept., our congressman, etc.
This is soooo fake! It just happened to me today 7-16-2014. although I do oew the irs money somehow the guy knew this. he was so crazy and rude. before I knew it was a scam there were several things that made me weary
1. first he calls you from a UNKNOWN number
2. when you answer its a automated voice message from a guy sounding indian with the most common American name ever SHAWN WHITE. he threatens you in it and says you have to call him back at 202-241-7431 badge #202.241.7431
3. when you call him back he doesn't answer than he calls you back
4. first he called me by my maiden name not my marrieds name which I found strange
5. he asked me what I owed intead of telling me
6. than he started screaming at me saying if I don't pay today a fbi agent is coming to my door to arrest me and noon. (than I said it is passed noon) he started screaming at me so violently he actually hung up on me
