We have received three phone messages from this "agency " that sound very similar to those reported above. threatening us with the rest due to some tax problem we were supposed to call immediately on the messages each ended saying "have a nice day".
This morning we got a call from a .gentleman' with a heavy accent saying that we were under federal investigation by an agency which he didn't disclose until we asked. When we said that we were going to call our accountant to deal with this he responded saying that we "would be arrested within the one hour" if we did not deal with him immediately.
It is clearly a phishing scam.
Just received a call stating that my address was under federal investigation due to problems with my taxes. The caller asked if I did my own taxes or had them professionally prepared. He also asked if I had received any documents in the mail or other phone calls regarding the matter. He said he could give me more details or he could forward it to my local police department. I asked for a number to call him back and he gave me this number. He spoke with a very heavy foreign accent - possibly Indian.
Every time I get a call like this I am so thankful, because it reminds me that if they outlaw guns only outlaws will have them! It is illegal to spam call people like this, yet they break the law anyway! So remember when they outlaw our guns only the evil will have them, and you will be standing helplessly while your children and family are….
Easy done. Call up the Ambassador at the Embassy for India. Tell them if they don't start arresting these crooks you'll lobby you Congressman to stop all trade, & business with their country. Won't work, but it sure sounds good.
First caller said his name was Kevin ? from the IRS Criminal Investigation Unit in Washington D.C. - could hardly understand him so he transferred me to his supervisor (also named Kevin).. Told me that the IRS had a criminal case against me for tax years 2003-2013 because I didn't file form 941C and that he had a local agent that would come to my house within an hour to help me with the issue. Told him I would rather contact the IRS directly. He changed his tune and rather than an agent coming to help me, suddenly the police would be coming to arrest me. I am so scared - not.
Don't verify an address if they throw one out at you or any other personal information. IRS does not call you. The police will not come an arrest you.
