I have the same message.I called back and its voicemail.I just realized why not a letter?
Agree with you .. Scam !!!!!
I will call IRS directly in D.C.
I got a recorded message from this number today as well. This women claimed to be from the IRS and asked that I return the call ASAP. When I called, I got an answer and then it just disconnected 2 seconds later. Seems like a scam to me too.
Report the Calls to the real IRS here:
•report the incident to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at 800-366-4484.
•You can also file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at FTC.gov. Add "IRS Telephone Scam" to the comments in your complaint.
******
Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $50.00 or so.
Got a voice mail from this and two other phone numbers (one of them was 860-487-0584 and I deleted the other one) in the past 3-4 days. They all said about the same thing; something about my owing them thousands of tax dollars and they were taking legal actions against me. The first two were the same female with an Indian/Pakistan accent and this one sounded more like a typical American. However, the woman on this voice message spoke VERY slowly, making me wonder if this was some kind of artificially synthetic speech thing. Anyway, scam!
