Got a call on answering machine from Ricky Stevens from "The Dept of Legal Affairs" and said my name was going to be in a lawsuit and I should call him back right away. Had a foreign accent.
Yup We got one of these too. Said he's from the US Treasure Legal Affairs Department. Then he changed his story and said now he's from the IRS. I laughed at him and said if I ask you again, what company will you be from then? He got mad. LOL BOGUS!!!!
got a message from someone looking for scott that a legal action was being taken against him. "walter" had a very thick accent and didn't sound like he was calling from the USA. I immediately recognized it as fraud. deleted the message how do we stop these people
I got a call from a Ricky Stevens with a Indian accent. Said I needed a lawyer and to call him at 202-241-8598. Said it was very important and I was in very big trouble. I knew it was a scam right away but I figured I would google search it. Thanks to all of you that posted this information and reaffirming that this was a scam. This helps other people from being scammed too. High five to you all. Thank you!!!
Thank you to everyone who has posted. I have received two of these calls. The first time my husband asked them for their agent identification (badge) number and they hung up. Today when they called (a few weeks later), they were prepared with a number. We told them we didn't believe them and they said I would be arrested. We googled the number and found this feed. What a waste of time and energy. Yuck, yuck, yuck. I'm grateful we were able to connect with others who've received these fraudulent calls though, so we can hopefully help prevent others from being scammed. Thank you to those of you who posted advice on how to stop this sort of scam.
Received a phone call from 1-415-506-2401 claiming to be a Ricky Stevens with Legal Affairs U.S. Treasure Badge #11152. He had a Indian accent. I normally don't answer the phone if I don't know who it is for this reason. He claimed there was some activity under my name and I would need a lawyer. I told him I would talk to my husband about this and he continued to ramble so I hung up! He called back mad that I hung up on him and said he would start legal proceeding against me and an officer would be arriving at my home at 5pm tonight to arrest me. I called the non-emergency number of Billings Montana and they said it was probably a SCAM and if someone shows up at 5pm to give them a call back. FYI Billings peeps.
