I had a client call me this morning and report that Detective Kevin Smith claiming to be with the IRS called him from this number and said this is his "direct" line and advised him that they will be out to arrest him if he does not pay his back taxes!! Well this client DOES NOT owe any taxes....THIS IS A SCAM!! I called the number and the person that answered (with an Asian accent), says "this is Detective Kevin Smith", I said, I need your agent number and he said "136907091", then I said, "why are you contacting my client, claiming to be with the IRS?" he said hold on just a minute....and when he came back, he pretended that we had lost connection and hung up! So, me and my client called the number again twice....and the voicemail says "you have reached Michael Smith"!! SCAM...SCAM...SCAM...DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY OF YOUR INFORMATION!!
Received a message from Office Kevin Smith from the IRS tax crime investigation at the IRS. Stated this was a pre-recorded message that there was a warrant for me and my house and that I needed to call back immediately to number 202-559-7669. I called in the morning; a voice sounded like India man answered; IRS tax crime how may i help you; he stated his name as officer Kevin; second i never shared my name or information; he knew exactly who was calling; third he was requesting some personal information and assistance for a person who doesn't work aka.... have no taxes to file for. Officer Kevin can not tell me my name............I said if you are truely the IRS I expect them to mail me a certified letter to my front door and the IRS is more professional in approaching the situation in not asking for personal infomation And they spoke english well not broken up english; he hung up the phone. I called back; a different guy answered; but not stating the IRS tax crime......told him he was reported to the FBI, he hung up. I tried calling back, no answer no pick ups.
