Modern technology has given telescammers the tools to call you.
Since those telescammers are criminals, they ignore both the Do Not Call list and any request you might make.
Modern technology can also protect you, if YOU do a few simple things!
The most effective thing to do is to get a call blocker device, service or app.
Then, use it correctly.
Google "call blocker" for more information, or visit Amazon or similar sales site.
If you cannot afford or use such a tool, then:
* Do not answer calls from unknown numbers ... let them go to voicemail or answering service
* Do NOT return calls from unknown numbers! All that does is verify your phone number! And, in some cases, those return calls may cost $20 or more to complete.

* If you have a "dumb" cell phone, assign the scammer's number to a group named "scammers" (or similar). Then, assign a silent ringtone to that group.
They called again today! I called the fraud alert ..
The person didn't disconnect the call. And proceeded to say Keara u post this person ss# and ordered several items. How are u getting the items? I get a delivery day and call that day to track the delivery. I want and tell the driver I'm that person and I live there. He said Keara. Reyes u better stop before u get court. In the last few weeks, I have received probably two dozen calls from this number and often several in a day. I no longer pick up.
In the beginning, a man (sounding perhaps from India) informed me that he was calling from Washington DC and that I had been allowed a grant . I was to write down a number and return a call. Because I was out walking the dog, I explained that I had no way of writing and that I had not requested a grant. He continued to insist. Upon telling him that no one ever receives something for nothing and that I wanted removed from his list., I hung up. The calls continue with the latest being ten minutes ago.
