Just received a text message from "Internal Reveuue service" (spelling incorrect throughout entire message)"Attention: we have recived alegal application against your name and ssn which is going to downloaded in local county court. Toget more information call us"
Aware that this was obviously a prank..... I called the number from my office phone number to ask them to remove my number. I was then informed that I had an outstanding balance owed to the IRS from an audit from 2008-2015. I was going to arrested within the next 45 minutes unless I could admit to the "IRS officer" on the phone that it was an honest mistake. After much banter with him that made him very upset, as in asking him if I had time to change out of my bathing suit before the police came, he became very insulted and used profanity while informing me of the following information about myself:
My name, SS#, Birthday, Driver's License, email account and home address. Keep in mind I was calling from my work phone, not the cell phone I was contacted on and never gave him my name....... I contacted the local police department and was assured that this scam had reported to them at least once a day and that I should ignore it. By the way, the caller ID name read, Daniel Torres with (2) numbers listed: 815-570-6161 eloan and 202-280-7135
