The caller was from a voice box, ( robot call), that they had a report of my name and social security number was used in a fraud event and if i didn't call back within 3 business hours, i would be arested
I made the mistake YEARS ago for applying for a short term loan online and even though I never went through with a loan I be been getting calls or emails just like this. These are ALL scams, every last one. Unless your in the mood to argue over nothing, don't even bother calling them back to tell them you don't know what their talking about, if you do DO NOT confirm anything about yourself (name, employment, social security number, NOTHING!) It's a scam and for every hundred or so people that know it's garbage there is at least one person who is scared and just gives them these "settlements" which is what these scammers hope for in the end. Report the phone numbers or emails if you can to the FBI on their website. If you still aren't sure if it's a scam cause maybe you do owe a bank or lender or whoever money just call your local police station, tell them what happened and they will run your info for free to see if there is infact a warrant with your name on it, odds are the answer is no because lenders can't have you arrested for non payment-it will go into collections just like any defaulted loan. Don't give in to scammers and know that you do not have to call these people back and deal with their lies.
