same thing happened to me. I was to claim a package containg a large check from Readers Digest for winning one of their contests. I was given a 703 number in Las Vegas for validation. I am contacting Readers Digest.
Caller gave this number to verify winning 250 million dollars with a verification number. Person who nsred said it was Publishers Clearing House. They wanted $250 for an exdpired U.S. Lottery stamp. I reported it to the police.
