I just received a voicemail from this number claiming all the above. Is this truly a scam?? It said something about having an attorney.... He was difficult to understand because of his accent. When I tried to call back I got a busy signal
Got a call from this number saying I was being sued and wanted to talk to my attorney. Told him to send me the papers and I would take them to my attorney
This is a scam, purporting to be from the Department of Legal Affairs for the US Treasury. My call was from "James Young" who later in the call changed his name to "Jamie." He left a voicemail (difficult to understand due to his accent and the fact that he kept losing his place in the script he was reading from) saying it was urgent I call them regarding "a very important issue," namely "enforcement actions that have been started on [my] name." He also told me if I was too busy to call back I should have my "retained attorney" contact them. He then warned that failure to call him back would result in "a legal mess for [me]." I have reported this call to the FTC.
