This scam is illegal. Report the activity to the FTC, your State Attorney General and the FBI. Refuse all future calls. The calls will request money to collect your winnings and may impersonate a Federal Officer such as a Customs Official that states you must pay duty or taxes to receive your funds.
I received a call from a Katerine Lewis from this number saying I had won $495,000 in the Publisher's Clearing House Sweepstakes. Since I hadn't responded to any of their mailings, the money was being held in a bank in Costa Rica and would be couriered to me. I need to pay the taxes due on my winnings by check, credit card or debit card. The check would be cut on the Lloyds FSB bank. Her direct phone number was 202-370-7652. The companies phone number was 866-978-8570

I received a call from this number from "Tom McGuire" saying that I won $275,000 from Publishers Clearing House and that since I hadn't claimed it the FTC holds it for me but Publisher's Clearing House keeps their money offshore in Costa Rica and because of the Patriot Act to collect I would need to post a bond of 1% ($2750) and that the bond would be posted with a government agency so it was completely safe. I called the real FTC and they said it was a scam. I gave them all the names and numbers but this person is still calling. I am going to lead him on a bit more thinking that he is going to get that money. Only fair!
Received a call from this number @ 0936 10 March 2011 from the Federal Trade Commission. Agent named was Tom Mc Guire. Said I had won $275,000 from the publisher's Clearing House ( Claim # FRC-1089) and they were unable to find me to deliver the money. Gave me a number (718) 213-4456 to call. Called the number and woman named Helen Moore (Customer Service) answered and said everyone in Claims was busy and would return the call. No further infomration.
