Had the same call. Said she was from the Grants Dept of the US Govt. and I was getting 9 grand free. Gave me some BS verification number and said if I gave her a credit card or bank acct number, she would transfer me to another person who would wire transfer the money "today". Asked her if she thought I was an idiot that I would give a cold caller my bank or credit card information! Told her I was going to go buy a Visa gift card and she could put the money on that. When I told her I wanted her number to call her back she said she would call me back. When I persisted in asking for her number, she hung up on me!
The call rep had such a bad accent that I could barely understand her, but apparently she was from the "US Greens Department" and was giving me a free $9000 something that I never have to pay back. I asked how I could know she was with the government and she told me to hang up and call the US Treasury to see that their number rang to them.
Same call, hard accent to understand. Stated that she was from the United States Government and that I was getting a 9,000 grant that I did not have to pay back. I hung up the phone
