Who called from 2024700093

The following message was left. "Hi, I am calling you from the revenue service of United States federal government the department of treasury. We have received legal complaint on your name in regard to tax. As we are trying to reach you for months and months. So before anything goes wrong with you, you or your obtained attorney need to call us back at 202-470-0093. I repeat 202-470-0093 If you want to save your dignity for being good citizen of the country call us back as soon as possible,"

No mail from the IRS has been received.

I just received the following message.  "Hi, I am calling you from the Revenue Service of the United States Federal Government Department of the Treasury.  We have received a legal complaint on your name in regard to tax.  As we are trying to reach you for months and months, so before anything goes wrong with you, you or your obtained attorney need to call us back at 202-470-0093.  I repeat 202-470-0093 if you want to save your dignity for being a good citizen of the country, call us back as soon as possible."

I have not received any mail for the IRS.

There is a widespread IRS (or CRA) or "tax scam" being  practiced by scammers on both USA and Canadian residents.

Short answer:
The IRS never initiates a contact via phone.
They always send a snailmail first.
