I got not one, not two, but 3 pre-recorded messages from this number about 2 hours apart according to the voicemail. They never give a name, nor do they ask for one, just that we need to call immediately! That there is some kind of criminal investigation pending against our lien (which comes as a shock, since we don't have one) and fraud charges with the IRS. I learned a long time ago, not to call these things back, so I will just wait 2 hours, and see if they call again. This should be entertaining!!
I am also getting calls and telling me there are charges against my name when they don't even ask for any specific name when they call and i don't even remember giving IRS the phone number that they are calling to, when i filed my tax.
VM msg says "significant charges filed against your name" and "matter of extreme urgency that you call back". Of Course the caller never says the name of the person the charges are files against. Also, just before he disconnects, you can clearly hear car honking traffic in the background. Probably a boiler room call center in some 3rd world country.
There is a fairly common IRS or "tax scam" being practiced by scammers in both Canada and the USA.
USA tax payers should read this:

Note particularly the links at that site, warning of the scam!
