This is a scam; the IRS does not have anything to do with the individuals impersonating IRS employees.  The IRS does not contact taxpayers via telephone demanding payment.  Do not provide any personal identifiable information or money.  If you suffered a financial loss regarding this scam please email or fax (202) 927-7018 your receipts, any supporting documents and a brief summary of the incident. Thank you for reporting this information.

man called had irs number on caller id. he said to call this 202 number. he said he sent a letter last week and we needed to check mail. I didn't have anything. I called back he said he will resend the letter. he didn't give his name or badge number. he sounded like he was from jamica. he would not tell me any information. he told me to wait until I got the letter most likely on Thursday and for me to call back. I am going to call 18008291040 first thing in the morning. this sounds like a scam and I will take it to law enforcement, I do have plenty of family in those departments.

thank you for your information. I called the irs over the weekend, but I will call again and see if I can get someone in person. I will get in touch with the federal trade commission as well. when I talked to my family in law enforcement they told me the irs will never call you by phone or email.
