Very thick accent man called and left a message saying he was with the IRS. Said his name is Officer Cooper. It sounded like a scam a not authentic, but after several calls we called just for giggles. Got an answering machine asking for us to leave a detailed message, needless to say we hung up. SCAM...IGNORE!

Received a call from this number from person claiming to be Officer Heather from the IRS saying investigation in progress and a complaint has been filed against my name. It is a scam! THe IRS does not contact by telephone or email. They send letters with legit telephone numbers and mail addresses and they can be verified on legit IRS sites or through calling them at their legitimate phone numbers. The original call claimed money was sent to India through Trans Union. We are retired and have no money to send anywhere so it didnt make sense. DO NOT GIVE ANY SOCIAL SECURITY, CREDIT CARD, OR BANK INFORMATION TO THESE DIRT BAGS!
I also received a call, with no details, not even who they were trying to reach. Instructed not to ignore the call and return the call to the IRS agent. This is obviously a scam
There is a fairly common IRS or "tax scam" being practiced by scammers in both Canada and the USA.
USA tax payers should read this:

Note particularly the links at that site, warning of the scam!
