I have received mail, stating that I have won a prize, and have had a cashier's check posted on my email address, from Bank of America for 2.5 million dollars. Even though I know this is a scam, how can I stop it .? Nathan
Caller said he was John Greene from Washington DC Dept. of Commerce and that I had won $450,000 through American Sweepstakes Network or some such thing, but needed an insurance policy to claim the winnings, yada yada yada - gave me a number for Prudential Insurance to purchase the policy and get details. Number is not for Prudential Insurance. Caller is probably located out of the country, even though area code is for DC. Calls to this number are actually forwarded to an unknown location. Police were notified and confirmed that this is a scam. DO NOT SEND ANY MONEY TO THEM!
hey i got a call in columbia s.c and the man left a message saying he was officer robert paige and he was from the dept of commerce federal trade commission and some crap about american sweepstakes. I immediately googled it and found out this was a scam of some kind I think this county should be doing more to get down to bottom of these such scams they rob people too an are never caught. I HOPE ONE DAY WE COULD HAVE THE CAPABILITIES TO TRACK DOWN THE BBBBB ....... LOCK UP THROW AWAY KEY.

I received that same call today. Stating the samething. When I told him if I wasn't able to pay that insurance he said I could get a loan. Then said he would call be back in 20mins and I'm still waiting. I guess that's one way of getting rid of them..However, he knew my address.
John Greene just called me with the same information regarding American Sweepstakes. He mentioned that he had left me a telephone message and sent something via the mail. Not true. He then said that his supervisor needed him and would call me back. He did not have time to go into the insurance scam.
