"Hi there my name is Ben. Please call me back today with a copy of your electric bill so we can apply these savings for you that it looks like you guys may qualify for. I'm going to be at my desk for the remainder of the day and you can reach me on my direct line. It's 847-423-0080. It just takes minutes to apply this for you. It's free. Why not take advantage of it. Call back today thanks. Goodbye."
Strange call - actually went through the trouble of pretending to be a wrong number before launching into the spiel about lowering utility bills, and then, pretended to be my local utility. Asked to call back at a 513-449-xxxx number (didn't have a pen handy.)
Multiple layers of deception used. Will be reporting to FTC and PUCO when I can verify the company.
Called me two days in a row. First it was "it's Tom, is mike around?" And the next day it was "it's mike, it's Tom around?" Hangs up immediately or goes radio silent. Report this number!
Both my husband and I were called on our cell phones. Message was something like: This is Jeff; I can help you to significantly reduce costs on your electric bill. Call me back on my direct line 202-335-1455. My husband called out of curiosity; person wanted him to submit a copy of our current electric bill. We called Pepco to report the calls.
