how do we stop this guy? i was just scammed out of $1600.00.

He almost got us too. Had it listed in Martinsburg WV for $800/month.  He wanted me to send him a $800 deposit and he would send the keys..... blah blah same story as the rest of you. Here are my back and forth emails for comparison.

From Scammer:

i wrote it in my first letter that i Presently live & work in Indianapolis,in and for me to come over, that will be very difficult,i will want the tenant that want my home to go and check the house out and if still interested in looking the inside, will pay for the security deposit,which is also refundable after which the key to our home will be sent to the present Address you give me..,to show sigh of seriousness because i have come all the way from Indianapolis,in to show a tenant the inside of my home...and at the end he fail to meet up...looking forward to know what you have decided on...

I understand what you are stating.  I have found pictures of your home (outside and inside) on the web and I know the area it is located.  I just want to speak to a person on the phone regarding the house.  This seems to good to be true and I would like to speak on the phone with you about the home, the lease contract, and the situation.  Please give me a phone number I can contact you at. I know that we want the home.  We just need to work out the details. Can you send a copy of the lease contract also.

Then I was dumb enough to send him the info he asked for before calling the number.  I called and it gave me a google voice mail first and the second time just another voice mail.  That was enough for me to know it was a scam so I googled the number and found your blog entries.  I won't include the final email I sent him because it was quite.... explicit.

listing in Carlisle, PA this month.  Pursued with interest and I am getting the same messages.  This individual is still at their scams
