They knew my name and told me I qualified for a grant. They asked my age and when I told them they hung up. I am a US Marine. I don't participate in criminal activity.
This has to be a criminal activity because the 555 exchange does not exist. The 202 area code is the correct code for the city of Washington D.C, but 555 is not used anywhere in the U.S.A. That is why every phone number you have ever heard given on a TV show or movie is always a 555 exchange. The caller is spoofing the number and any information you may find on the internet that indicates this to be a legitimate number for a business is planted and false! Do not respond!
Actually not ALL 555 exchange numbers are fictitious. 555-0100 through 555-0199 are reserved for fictitious use (i.e. movies, songs, etc.) Also, the 555-1212 number is directory assistance in the US. Research before you go on a tirade of misinformation. Now, that being said, I'm sure whoever is calling you is spoofing the number. Unless this is the number that would show if you are being connected through directory assistance. Haven't tried it, so I'm unsure what it would display.

You will find it can be uesed with area code for which ever city or town you are searching a number for. It is equal to the now well known "411" it is also used with 800 , 877 , 866, and so on .ie;
800-555-1212.
I do not know what the hell is going on . I havw read online in a couple of very dificult to research websites that the reason I have recently begun getting calls from this number coorallate with the pecular activity and noises and clicks and what sometimes sounds like an FM stereo scanning through hundreds of frequencies. . Due to listening protocol being used through various disguised terminals for either NSA or potentially Secret Service or any other Government Agency. Who has been granted legal authority to eavesdrop on any person or business number they deem suspect... Wether you are a friggin terrorist or engaging in that form of behavior. Or not . They are lawless. It is because I have made comments on Social Networks or political blogs simply criticizing the Government or any Government person .....
