I got a call from this number, which I sent to voice mail as I do all unknown numbers. They left an automated message claiming to be with the irs. It said some tax documents with my name had been found and to call immediately to avoid legal action & jail time. I can't find any scam reports on this number but it doesn't seem right. Googling revealed the number to belong to a DC based lobbying group. I called it back just for kicks. Line  played irs intro followed by press 1 for English. I pressed 1 and the call was immediately answered by a man with a very thick (middle eastern I think) accent. Claimed to be a lawyer working with the irs. I said yeah right and hung up. No call back so far.

Definitely a scam. It has been on the news recently and there are warnings on the IRS website about it.

You can report the scam attempt here:

SCAMED!
I got the same call today 3/16/15. ITS [***]!... his name was Dan Rogers with an Indian accent... I received a call from and "IRS" agent this past Thursday stating that i was going to be arrested within hrs. I needed to lawyer up as soon as possible because I was getting sued by the irs for false taxes. I freaked out but I did a little research and YES!!!... several  people were claiming that they got a call from an Indian accent individual stating that there were some tax issues and were about to go jail. I believe the scam is on the second or third call where the "lawyers" from the IRS are going to ask for money to protect you from going to jail..... so PLEASE DO NOT DO IT!!!..
be safe!

I just got off the phone with "Don Rodgers" a very nice indian man, with an extremely american name.  I let him go through his explanation of how i "purposefully" commited tax fraud against the government.  I was told at the start of the call that i would not be threatened in any way, yet, later on i was told that i had one week to come up with 84k, otherwise i would be thrown in jail with no chance at bail...sounds like a threat, right?  He asked that i not interrupt him during his explanation, so i did not.  He also claimed the IRS has proof that they made several attempts to notify me of my crime.  He claims they have a photograph of a yellow sticky note they left on my door 2 years ago...After he gave his explanation i asked to see the picture he claimed to have as proof they tried to contact me.  i was told i would not have access to their proof.  I then began citing the rules for contact that IRS follows directly off IRS.gov and inquired as to why i did not recieve notice by mail as it states on their website, and he began to argue with me.  I asked more pressing questions and the call ended with him saying that he would" see me in court in 45 minutes".  To make it simple, do not fall for this.  Their allegations and information are completely false and they have no basis for their claims.  review the information posted above by the actual IRS regarding scams, and report this to the FTC.  Rediculous.
