PLEASE NOTE !!! THESE SCAMMERS ARE IMPERSONATING THE US GOV'T / SEVERAL GOV'T OFFICES AND RELATED PERSONS....BEWARE !!!
- they are also impersonating DEA officials / IRS / FAKE LAW FIRMS etc.... with threats to arrest you unless you immediately send money via wire transfer / western union to some offshore country !!!!! obvious scam !!!
some are landlines...many are cell phones...some are spoofed and linked to offshore foreign call centers / countries !!!!
we've traced back most of these numbers to offshore foreign call centers mostly in INDIA / THAILAND / AFRICA / JAMAICA ETC....
here's a few other numbers posted from the same area code offering a wide variety of scams / fake emails and scams after posting something on craigslist ( old scam ) ...... collecting for non existant " payday loans "....free money / scam giveaways / calling on behalf of a humane society..... $1,000's in free gov't money......... etc etc.....stories change out all the time......and the usual nonsense!!!
** mysteriously call to claim they have several thousand of dollars to send you / give ....just provide your bank account and credit card right away etc etc.........scam scam
Called me while I was walking my dogs - said I was being sued by the IRS and a warrant had been issued against me if I didn't resolve the issue immediately -the local police would arrest me within two hours and confiscate my car, suspend my drivers license and all of my accounts would be seized (including my house)! He gave a case number and a badge number (#1986-probably his birth year) and an American name (Roy Jacob) even though he had very pronounced Indian accent. He told me I would need a criminal lawyer unless I followed protocol to resolve the issue. (Although I didn't do what he told me) he then instructed me to get in my car and drive to the parking lot of my bank and once I was there I would receive further instructions, almost like being taken hostage by this phone call - it was very disturbing and upsetting. They said I could not disconnect the phone otherwise they would initiate the arrest warrant and they would come to my house and take me away. He also mentioned that we were being recorded, I should've told him I was recording him! By the way, of coarse I did not drive to the bank or anything like that I was arguing that this was BS - now I'm afraid to know how much this [***] phone call is going to cost me?
