I also got a call from 202-607-2068 trying to say I was approved for a government grant. I asked the lady to remove me from their call list and the lady yelled at me saying NO and hung up. Something really needs to be done about online scams and the harassment when they constantly keep calling all hours of the day and night.
I also got the call and when I told the man I was having a hard time understanding what he was saying to me (because of his thick accent) he grew very upset with me but just kept repeating the same thing over and over again. I did call the "manager" line he gave me to see if he could speak more clearly and he did more of the same. I knew $7,000 was too good to be true. Wish there was a way to stop this!!
I received several phone calls yesterday, 8-24-2011, from this same number. They actually spoke to my mother, who answered the phone, and the lady on the line said that she was from the Department of Treasury. After a short, fruitless conversation, the lady cursed at my mom and hung up the phone. Today, 8-25, a man called back from the same number, also sticking with the DoT story. My mother again answered the phone, and told the man that she didn't believe he was actually from the Treasury department. The man got extremely agitated and also began cursing at her. After she hung up the phone, the man called back and left a message, which included such threats as "I am going to f**k your daughter." He also recited my address during the message, which is pretty terrifying and leaves me puzzled as to how he came into possession of that information. The police were called and came to file a report, and they also listened to the message and took down the caller ID information - which came up as the telephone number (202) 607-2068, with the name Onitte Mckinno.
This is a ridiculous scam that easily crosses the line into harassment, and the people who are behind it need to be found, stopped and arrested. It disgusts me to think that there are people out there who are so vile and disgusting. Hopefully the police will be able to make some headway in the matter.
Also, both callers were foreign and had heavy accents, as other people have reported.
I got a call from this number twice today. The second time I answered and said that I they had the wrong number since the name who he asked for was wrong and was not me. Asked them to take my number off their list and he said NO. Eventually he got agitated and started calling me a motherf*!#%& over and over again. I was shocked!!! The number has been blocked so no calling me back. Someone needs to deal with this issue of these #s calling, it isn't the only one. They are all scams of trying to get some sort of identity theft.
omg are you serious who does that i was reading all the comments because my mom had told me if the number called me dont answer it she git a call also but she didnt answer and she called back and it was a dissconnected number and they didnt leave a voice mail.and i was reading your and i started to think i wonder if you guys are ok and i give my heart out to you guys i juat hope this guy dosent call me did the police do anything ?
