This fax number is used by someone who is sending out a fax to businesses fromt he US Department of Transportation(US DOT) advising businesses that in order to participate in the procurement plan with th US DOT for the "second semester of 2010" they must submit the business bank name, branch, branch fax, bank contact, ACCOUNT NUMBER, tax id and signing officer's names and signatures.
The US DOT confirmed that this is fraudulent. IF you give them this information, they can clean out your account.

Thanks for posting this! I also received this fax and wasn't sure about it. We deal with a procurement dept. with the State of AZ and was going to reply until I read what information they were asking for which made me think it might be a scam. Like any number I'm unaware of, I googled it and found your post confirming my suspicion!
