I first received a voice mail from this number stating that I needed to return the call to a Rebecca Watson with the IRS. When I called the number back, a male answered, with an accent. He said Rebecca was his supervisor. There was nothing professional sounding (you'd think with irs) about him. I caught on pretty quickly but let him speak. Much of the conversation was about how I owed almost 2000$ in back taxes, that was found through an audit on my taxes from 2008-2012. Supposedly, the government had been trying to reach me for 90 days but because I never responded, my case was turned over to the police. There was a warrant out for my arrest. He even rattled off case numbers and badge numbers. If I disconnected the call with him, then the police would be calling me in 30-40 minutes afterwards. He repeated himself and his story 4-5 times. He told me I was going to do 1-2 years in jail and pay 15-20,000$, all for tax fraud. My house, cars, any pensions would be taken from me. He was yelling at me over the phone, very unprofessional, so much so that I told him he did not need to yell. Eventually, I hung up on him. Thankfully, it sounded fishy and I did not disclose any personal information. He knew my first and last name.
I received a message from an automated caller asking me to call Officer David Walker from the I. R. S. The voice then gave me the number 202 657-4130 and made it very clear not to ignore this call. Knowing that this was not a legit call I called the number and was asked to leave a message vs- a greeting stating that this is the IRS. I will be calling the Real IRS to see if they can look into this.
