Called the number after receiving clearly bogus threatening voice mail. Some guy with a severe accent that sounded Indian answered the phone, claimed to be from the IRS and then told me that there was a warrant for my arrest. After telling the guy off in colorful language, the guy called back TWICE and left profane messages on my phone. Clearly this is a criminal enterprise trying to get money.
Received a call telling me that I should call back 202-657-4285 because the IRS has a lawsuit against me.
I don't know what number they called from because I do not have caller ID on that phone line. However, it is a private number and there is no way they could look it up, clearly random dialing. It was a recorded message telling me I was indebted to the IRS, which I am not.
Bogus, scum, scam.
Exactly as the 2 comments above, I received yesterday a call from the same number ( 202-657-4285) and the guy, who seems to be the same as talked to No Dummy, came up with the same issue, that I own some money to IRS, since 2007. I said "it's impossible and I'd verify and call you later." When I asked from where he was calling me, he said from IRS. Then I asked the extension #, and he said, "you just call this number and that's it", and hung up. He was very rude..and with a strong accent.
I received a message on my answering machine with the same callback # 202-657-4285. The automated voice said the IRS is filing a lawsuit against me. I will not be returning the call
