I received a call from a unknown number saying that I was approved for a free government grant in the amount of $7,849.00, but I needed to send them $290.00 as a little fee, I was given an Approval grant #, and also this phone number to call. 202. 657.5033, is this a scam or is this really true???
Money sounds good, but I need my money also....don't want to give just the little I have.

That fact that a search of the phone number brought you here should give you some indication of the bad news. It's a scam, & a well known one. This is known as an "advance fee scam". Think for a moment. Why would you PAY money, to GET money? They can GIVE you $8000.00, but they need $300.00 for you to get it? Doesn't make sense does it? It's payday at work. Do you send the Government money, & then get your paycheck? They take it off at the source, right? Same with Lottery wins, prizes, gifts. Taxes, costs, are all deducted from the win. Beware of these words: Wire transfer. That is Western Union, Money Gram, Money Pak, Green Dot, etc. No real business, or Government Agency uses them. They are CASH, untraceable cash that can be picked up anywhere in the world. Nigeria, for example. Oh, don't give out your bank account information either - it'll be cleaned out.
