Received a call today on my husbands cell number. Heavy accented guy said we were awarded $7000 by the govt. & we needed to go to the nearest western union to receive. We immediately knew it was a scam. We never let him get to the point of asking us for money. He said he worked for the govt but when we asked what dept. he said we had a bad connection which we did not. We could hear lots of people in the background so he was definitely in a boiler room. Told him repeatedly in very loud direct plain English to NEVER CALL US AGAIN! Like that will help. Everyone be aware of this nonsense!
I recieved a call from UNKNOWN a guy tell me that i m selected by the US GOVT. to recieve a $7600 from western union.but there is a secuirity of $200.I deposit $200 to western union...........and after 1 hr i get $7799 from the western union ..................yieepieeeeeeeeeee............
got the first call yday... asked what their callback number was as "he" read his script... "you have been chosen to receive $7600 from Washington DC Government grant.... just western Union $199 within an hour.... I hung up... half an hour later he calls back and ask me what my problem was. I told him I was calling the police and to stop calling my phone!... I hung up again.... I just received another call just now... same guy... asked me what my problem was and why didn't I western union money to him like I promised yday.... I promised no such thing... the only thing I promised was to call the cops!
Got a call , for this $7000.00 grant. You can't understand the idiots, but you have to be an idiot to believe you have to go to western union to receive the money. If it is a grant you do no have to pay for it with your money. Plus the govt. number does not start with 202, so use your head and ask for an I D badge number. All state and federal employees have one.they would not notify you by phone the would send an official letter, not go through western union.
