My parents received a call from this number. The man advised he was with the Consumer Protection Bureau and wanted to know if they had recently entered a sweepstakes. My dad thought it seemed suspicious and hung up. The man called back but my dad did not answer. I called the number and a man answered "Consumer Protection Bureau". I asked who he represented and he repeated "Consumer Protection Bureau", adding "Federal US in Washington DC". I said that I wanted to have a number removed from their call list. He advised, "we are not a company and do not sell anything" we are US Federal. I said that I called the Federal Trade Commission and the Bureau of Consumer PRotection does not make unsolicited calls to consumers. He reacted angrily, saying "we are the "Consumer Protection Bureau". Obviously a scam - I filed a complaint with the FTC.
