Rec'd a call from 202-715-0738, came up as simply "District of Columbia" on my caller ID. The caller claimed to be from [***]'n of Homeless and Disabled Veterans, and I could hear a lot of noise in the background, like he was in a call center. He asked for a donation using a credit or debit card, I asked that he mail something out since his company didn't sound familiar and I like to double-check where I'm sending my money. He said "ok" and hung up without even verifying my mailing address (other charities have typically verified my mailing address before getting off the phone). Research on this site indicates that this may be a semi-legit charity, but that very little money goes back towards the program they claim to be raising funds for (about 26%). If I even get something in the mail, I will not be donating to them.
