The call came up as "Unknown" on caller ID. They left a recorded VM that said we needed to call the IRS back at this phone number as soon as possible or face incarceration. We looked up the phone number and saw that it was a scam. We're not calling the number back.
My mother yesterday had call (she is 84 Has Health Issues) and young woman from this phone number left this number and also said she was calling from the IRS and if my mother did not call back within 24 hrs she could be incarcerated. I called from my home phone number this morning, phone rang for about 30 times, young woman,s voice came on saying that I better leave the right name, phone number since this was serious. I then hung up my phone. It is so sad my stepfather and mother were together almost 40 yrs and he did die recently in hospital and now she has to put up with this kind of stuff......................................
Received a call from 202-738-4274 - saying they were the IRS and that if I did not call them back I would be incarcerated, I called back, it rang about 30 to 40 times and then someone that I could barely understand kept telling me that I needed to provide them with my social security number and immediate payment. I called the IRS and they said it is not any of their numbers.
This number was on my caller ID. They left a voicemail that was an automated voice and a little difficult to understand. However, it was something about fraud (I think), and if I didn't call back I would arrested. I'll take my chances on that.
