I received the call from (347)269-0777 informing me that I had been awarded a Grant for $9,000. Then I was directed to call 202 738-4634. This person started telling me that I had to get the Green Dot Card and put $180.00 it to get the Grant. At that point I stopped him. I told him he was trying to "Scam" me and that I would check the number out on the internet and if he indeed was trying to scam me, I would report him to the FBI. The he said that he was not trying to scam me. I said, we will see about that and hung up. Both men had Indian accents.
they stated I had been awarded a government grant via the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. That I needed to get a green dot card for $195. I was to call him, "Mr. William Walker" as soon as I got to a Walgreens or CVS and he would talk me through the steps. Then I was to go to a Walmart and call him again so he could walk me through the steps of receiving the awarded by money wire. they never gave company name, or government office only that I was being awarded this money as a grant from the US government because I had no bankruptcy in the last six months, nor felonies, etc. I really wanted to believe it was true but since when dose the government just call you out of the blue with out a mountain of paperwork to receive funds....
