I agree with you. This (202) 747-7355 appeared on my "missed calls" list.
No matter what their case is, I know that my number is on the National Do Not Call List.
Called my cell phone Saturday afternoon while I was at work. I asked "What are you selling?" He said they are giving free movies to "parents and grandparents." I am neither, so I hung up on him.
I have no idea how he got my number, but I resent the call. Charity or not, he does not have the right to barge into my office, even by phone.
This call from 202-747-7355 came in on my campaign celphone number (see http://www.strohmforcongress.net if you're curious) and since it was from the Washington DC area code, I took it. Usually, calls to my campaign number from DC are legitimate lobbyists, Federal agencies, or news media calling.
The "polite" guy started his spiel and when I asked him where he got my number, he started backpedaling, saying "it was some random combination of numbers they called ..." or some BS like that. So I told him who I was, and I was running for Congress in District 21, Texas, and that he'd reached my main campaign number -- HE HUNG UP ON ME!!!!
Not even your Congressional candidates are immune to the telemarketers. If elected tomorrow, guess who I'm gonna pick on first?
I called the number back and spoke with John....he told me they are calling random numbers in my area to get a wide range of feedback. They are sending two free films that are appropriate for all ages.
I am hoping that this company is as good as what everyone is saying on these threads. I will be getting my "free films" and am looking forward to seeing how good they are. As a mother of 2 small children, I am constantly looking for positive entertainment for htem.
