I received a message from the "Internal Revenue Fraud division" requesting I call in regard to "fraudulent charges on my tax report" and by calling this number 202-754-8189 you will be given an opportunity to "rectify this situation". They repeated the number and ended the message with "Have a nice day" When I tried the number it said it was a wireless number, call back at later time. Because it was a wireless number and because it was a phone contact and not the normal formal contact by mail, I knew it was a scam. I have heard of this scam but , I was not contacted until yesterday by "Linda Brown" with an accent and stating that she was an "officer" with the IRS. When I questioned her she suddenly stated that she had to disconnect. Then I got this message on my phone later in the day. Both numbers where the phone call and message came from were the same 202-754-8189.
I keep getting phone calls from 202-754-8189--leaving a message saying they are from the IRS re: charges against me and to call back--I know this is not the way the IRS does business--I am on the Do Not Call list--I just wanted to report this--Of course I did not call back--Thanks
Called and said to call them back. We had charges against us for possible tax fraud. She ended the call with hope to ear from you soon. Have a good day.
