We reveiced this call via a Voicemail today. They left a message saying they were the "Legal Affairs of the Department of U.S. Treasury, the Internal Revenue Service." Stated that we had a fraud on our taxes and needed to call them back. We knew right away it was a scam. I called anyway to get more info. I introduced myself as an investigator. The man on the other end had either an Indian or a Pakistani accent. He kept pretending to be with the IRS, and asked me to meet him at the IRS building, and gave me a badge number, then hung up.
we had someone call us from this number and he said he was with the IRS and they were going to send the cops out to arrest us if we didn't pay them $3500 because of something that wasn't paid for. When we told them we didn't have that type of money he said to give him $500 as good faith money.
Received a call and a recording from this number today at my residence. Called back from work and talked to someone supposedly from the IRS. He claimed I was being audited for fraud forTax Years 2008 thru 2012. He provided an address in DC, but missed on quite a few other questions I threw at him. Obvious scammer. Had some fun with him though. I guess local Law Enforcement will at my door soon to arrest me (lol). WIll be submitting report to TIGTA and possibly FTC.
The guy that called me was disgusting, crude, and I eventually hung up on him. They call now at least twice a day. I ignore the calls but they leave voice-mails. So tired of them calling. My husband blocked one number but they have different numbers they are calling from now. Today it was a woman, the few weeks it was a man. Same line: Tax fraud, warrants out for my arrest, call them immediately, tax evasion, etc... sigh.
