The Federal Trade Commission warns of this scam at https://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0113-government-grant-scams I was called from various numbers, e.g., 202-838-7417, but told to call back to 202-780-7284
Thought it was a great opportunity, called the number back and spoke with "Robert" when I kept asking for clarification he just kept getting more impatient, angry, and rude. Told me to give him an answer on whether or not I wanted my benefits ($10,450). Very shady. Has "SCAM" written all over it.
The government does not call people up and offer them free money because you paid your taxes on time, have never been arrested, have paid all your bills, or whatever excuse they can make up. In order to get a grant you need a valid reason (not one of the above and not just because you need money), you have to fill out tons and tons of paperwork, wait a long time, and might not even get the grant in the end.
Do not listen to them. I did some research online and found out that this is all fake. Telling me to buy itunes card from cvs and put money in the tracking number.... Goodthing i looked up..
