Several calls over a three week period. Hangup every time. Reverse call answered with "We want your business. Please hold." (paraphrased) No response for over a minute so hung up. Guess the Do Not Call laws have no teeth.
Called three times in the past week. Ask for me by name, then tell me they are from Microsoft and want me to give them remote access to my computer. IT IS A SCAM !!! Once they get access, they will either steal personal info or plant viruses that they will charge you $100 to remove. Keep them on the line for 15 minutes and then hang up on them.
These are obvious attempts to deFRAUD by gaining access to PCs in remote sessions. Microsoft should lead effort to shut it down and the fraud is being done using their name. Since I work in IT I began questioning them, they quickly hung up BUT I could see and older or less IT experienced user falling for this. The good part is the accents are so strong I would hope it would make folks have caution. Then again if they had recent overseas call center interactions they may fall for it. Got second call today. Always caller ID as Washington DC which also lessons the odds of spoof, if Redmond, Wa who knows what could happen.
