I recieved a call stating that it was the IRS and I commited tax fraud. The caller sounded like he was from India and gave a hispanic name. I called the IRS and they said they would not of contacted me by phone.
It just happened to my 83 year old mother. They said they were the IRS and if she didnt pay back axes from 2002-2006 of $1985.00 , a warrent would be issued for her arrest for tax fraud. When I called them back and started to question them harshly, they started to curse me out and hung up. They were also foreign sounding, sounded like India. He gave his name as Mr Watson. He has such a thick accent I had to have him spell it twice for me to understand it.....horrible scam artists
I've had these people calling me for three months now. First they were using an 866-978-5261, and today they used the 202-800-8597 number. Stated it was from the IRS and that they needed to get more personal information from me to pass onto a lawyer. I gave NO INFORMATION to them, and neither should you. I called the IRS directly a few weeks ago to ensure nothing was wrong with my records, and they confirmed this was a scam.
I just received a call this morning form the same #, claiming I had an IRS lien against me, what is scarey is that they already had my social security number and let me to believe the call could be really from IRS, the person scared me by saying if I did not pay the lien against me, I could go to jail and be deported.
I called IRS, they told me that it was a scam and to report them.
Please please watch out, the scammers are getting more and more personal informaion on all of us, Everybody should be reporting this to IRS, Police and the FBI
