I received the call as well today and was told that I was chosen to receive $8000 in free federal grant. I listen to the caller and asked for his name: Rene Smith. I will be shocked if anyone falls for this scam because you can smell it from a distance. I had a hard time understanding the caller thick accent ( Asian).
Received a call stating I was chosen to receive $8000 in free federal grant money. I was given a code whichI was told not to share with anyone except call the phone number 202-836-7351 and give it to them. I bypassed continuing on with the "scam " and didn't call the number. This scam hopefully will get shut down before too many innocent people fall for the "money" trap.
I got a call today from the same number - same deal 8,000 grant. The guy told me I was randomly selected by the Treasury Dept. to get the money. I kept asking a lot of personal questions about his ethnic background because of his middle Eastern accent and he said he was a US citizen. He gave me a code also. He said to call the same number and give them the code and they would tell me exactly what to do. I called it and gave the ciode number to a foreign sounding woman who said she'd call me tomorrow. I won't answer.

Just received a call from a woman with a very heavy accent, caller id said Washington DC but I don't buy it. She asked for debit card number to put the money on which cannot be done, or checking account or western union. Do not speak to these people!
I was told I won a grant and asked to pay $299 they wanted me to borrow 40 dollars and Jeffery would call my bank and get them to Authorize a 300 overdraft so that I would have the money to receive my 8000 dollar grant.
