Somebody on another number I was checking said some folks use (nobody there) robo-dialers to dial as many people as possible because they get a fraction of a cent by connecting to you (this is how they make their living) from various phone companies. Others have said these (nobody there) robo-dialers checking to see when you will answer so their live counterparts will know when to call an bug you.
