Yep. I especially liked "...then the only thing I can do is wish you a good luck as this situation unfolds on you." You'd think they'd at least be smart enough to use proper English. Lame.
Oh was fun they called me while I was working. Best moment ever. Supervisor got involved. The perks of working for the IRS. Tried telling me I was scamming him.
They called and told my husband he was going to be arrested if he didn't pay within the hour... He woke me up at 6:00am, he was scared out of his wits... I got on the phone and realized, after I woke up fully, that it was a scam... I played along for a while, they caught on to me and the cursing and swearing at me ensued... I was feeling rambunctious and called them with a blocked number... I called them about 200 times that day... One of the last calls I made a woman answered... She asked why I keep calling them all day... OMGosh, it was hilarious... I am disabled and have a lot of time on my hands...
The IRS reminds people that they can know pretty easily when a supposed IRS caller is a fake. Here are five things the scammers often do but the IRS will not do. Any one of these five things is a tell-tale sign of a scam. The IRS will never:
Call to demand immediate payment, nor will we call about taxes owed without first having mailed you a bill..
Demand that you pay taxes without giving you the opportunity to question or appeal the amount they say you owe.
Require you to use a specific payment method for your taxes, such as a prepaid debit card.
Ask for credit or debit card numbers over the phone.
Threaten to bring in local police or other law-enforcement groups to have you arrested for not paying.
