Was told I had $7000 in grant money waiting to be delivered to me.
Was asked if I had filed bankruptsy in the past 6 months and if not I qualify..I needed to give him my account information to have the money deposited into my account in 15 minutes. I told him to mail it. He gave me a confirmation number to give when I dialed 202-559-7936 approval confirmation AU173.
When I dialed the number it went through ringing like a residential line. I hung up.
did anything happen when you called back they been calling me too i just dont answere but they don't leave a message and I cant find anything on that number
this number has called my unlisted, telemarketer blocked cell phone on more then one occasion. I do not answer but they do not leave a message. If you try to call it back a recording states that the number
you have called is invalid? Anyone know who this is?
First someone called me and it said The Hyate or Hiate Washington ( which is a hotel) and said they were from the federal government and that a survey was done in my area last year and that I had been chosen to receive a free federal grant in the amount of $7,500.00 because I have paid my bills on time, never filed bankruptcy and don't have a criminal record. I knew it was a scam when they said that because I can never seem to pay my bills on time and I do have a criminal record. Anyway I called the number on the caller I.D back and a desk clerk at the Hyate Hotel answered and said that their number had been compromised and that indeed it was a scam and forwarded me to a recording that gave me their criminal case I.D number and a number I could call to report what had happened. The next day I got a call and the caller I.D said District of Columbia 202-987-6543 this time the lady sounded brittish and said her name was Mrs. Thompson and gave me the same spill and asked how I wanted my money, western union, check or deposited into my account. I went along with it careful not to give her any account or credit card info and said I wanted it wired to me. She asked where the closest western union was and I told her Food Lion right down the street, she said the money would be there within 30 minutes and all I had to do was go there, give my name, show ID and call her when I was there, the number she gave me to call her back was 202-559-7936 but the catch is that she assured me that if I paid a deposit of $310.00 for the wire that I would receive the $7,500.00 plus my $310.00 dollars back within 10 minutes. Yea right, could you imagine standing at the grocery store looking like a complete fool. If they call back again I am really going to mess with their head this time..
This is a scam. I receive this call, same number, same offer and for same grant. I applied for a grant, they are hard to get, a lot of red tape and it takes a long time to receive a grant, if a grant will be issued. It is hard to reach someone at a government grant office by phone and they will hardly return a call, they are not going to call someone to hand a grant to and GRANTS ARE NOT GIVEN OUT LIKE IT'S A LOTTERY CONTEST.
