Caller ID showed Stamford, CT. When I answered, male told me he was from a security service and they were giving away free security systems in "my area". When I asked where "my area" was, he hung up. I don't live anywhere near Connecticut.
I received the same call on 5/19 and got the same story. My response was the same as yours with the same reaction. I live in Virginia, so I knew it was a scammer.
