Just got the same call and i had herd of calls similar to this one before so i said to myself "Lest have some fun..." So i played along.. and same thing trying to get me to long onto the website etc... So i said what company hired you to look into this, he said they were hired by something like The internet management service of Canada... so i looked it up while he was still blabbering about leaking stuff on my computer etc.. and of course nothing came up.. so then i waited a few minutes still pretending i was clueless about computers until i asked again what United States department they were working for (knowing they said they worked for the Canadian government the first time), then they said they were hired by Microsoft.. so i laughed to myself and asked but you said you worked for some US department. They ignored it and kept saying they wanted me to "rest easy at night knowing my computer was safe" etc.. and try to direct me to the site again. SO then i said i don't live in the US, i'm in Switzerland and i dont know why the US would care about me. He ignored that said the service providers in the US hired them. SO then i said how do i know your site wont give me a virus.. they said it wouldn't and they just wanted to help me. SO then i said your story is full of holes stating the geographic inaccuracies and the many companies they were hired by and still he insisted i go to the website.. so i asked how they got my number and they said they got it from my ISP so then i stated again i was from Switzerland and wondered how a US ISP would have my information. So then i said i think you are a scam, and they said why are you being like this and then i was getting bored since he was blatantly dumb so i just hung up. Its fun to mess with them.
I got the call just a few minutes ago. Said he was from some computer company, that I was leaking information. I said I'm not on Windows, he said You must be on Mac then. I said no, if I'm leaking information, you should know what system I'm using and hung up.
he called and said i was uploaded bad files and viruses to their system, then he asked me to do somethings on my computer, instead i checked my antivirus and antispam software, showed that all was good on my end, then i began to ask him for a phone number to reach his company(internet service management) then he proceeded to insult me and told me i was mentally ill.
That's some pretty outlandish claims - and coming from a stranger on a phone call!
If that's how Brian's contact with this caller went, then I guess most everyone who receives the call should either ignore it or block it. But the rest of y'all who like to answer the phone and f_uck with people like this idiot, please go right ahead and try to get to 'em. Then come back here and let us know how it went.
Nawh, if I made a contact like that, I'd just tell them to send their information to me, and I'd look into it, then just hang up on them - without confirming ANY information to them.
This number called us a while back. We didn't answer. They didn't leave a message. No problem.
Whatever the caller's motive is, it's a bogus call.
Said that our Windows computer in the household's linking to the internet and uploading our files and viruses.
I replied stating that we had no Windows computers in the household and naturally he started to say that the information given to this ISM (internet service management) agent was about windows.
He sounded indian (no offense to any out there) and obviously loses credibility as he was unable to properly communicate.
As always, no number was left, no professional way to end conversation either.
Got a call from this number and tried telling me my computer was sending out my information and viruses. I was like okay, and what would you like me to do. "Well sir I'm from ISM (internet service management) and we need to stop your computer from sending this stuff out. " I played along thinking about the AMMY scam. Caller tries to direct me to a website www.help247.tk Didn't go there but he tried to convince me too. Beware of this company they are fishy sounding.
