Debt is civil, not criminal, so even if you owe money, you will NOT be arrested and jailed. Report the call to the FTC, FBI, Dept of Justice and your state's Attorney General. Also call your local police department if you're still concerned.
got a call looking for my son. Have been getting these calls for months now. Other numbers have checked out to be scam numbers. Didn;t find this one on google. They say they need to get hold of him for an important legal matter. . . . . . . . .
Keep getting calls from this number saying I owe money from a bounced check & closed bank account. They won't provide any business license numbers or Better Business Bureau information. Think they're a scam. I've already been suckered by one company, not gonna let it happen again!
Never pay any caller unless they mail - not email or fax - proof that you owe a debt and that they have the legal right to collect said debt. Any caller who refuses to mail you this proof is owed nothing, per the FDCPA. And the biggest giveaway that your callers are scammers is the fact they won't provide any information to you - this is also a violation of the FDCPA.
they said might go to jail to my brother if I didn't call the number. I called and it was a voice mail asking for name and case number. The guys name on the voice mail was Joel Locktell.
